Best Beginner-Friendly Tools for Digital Marketing (What I Actually Use)

Best Beginner-Friendly Tools for Digital Marketing

Whether you’re exploring affiliate marketing, planning to sell digital products, or just dipping your toes into online business, the right tools can make or break your experience. Here’s what I’ve learned when it comes to getting the right tools to get started.

Choosing the right beginner-friendly digital marketing tools can feel overwhelming when you’re just starting out, especially if you have no tech background and are trying to build a business on a budget. When I began my own digital marketing journey, I had no idea which platforms I actually needed, which ones were worth the money, or how to keep my setup simple. After testing several popular tools and feeling more confused than when I started, I finally landed on a combination that’s affordable, easy to use, and perfect for new digital creators. In this post, I’ll walk you through every tool I tried, what worked (and what didn’t), and the beginner-friendly tech stack I use today.

Who This Post Is For

If you’re just getting started or looking for more bang for your buck, this post might be helpful as I compare Stan Store vs. Systeme.io vs. Beacons vs. Funnels of Course.

This breakdown will help if you are:

  • A new affiliate marketer
  • A digital product beginner
  • A blogger building an email list
  • Someone who wants simple, affordable tech
  • A Pinterest marketer
  • Or anyone picking a tech stack with zero experience

My Software Journey as a New Creator (and What I Wish I Knew Sooner)

When I started my online business, I assumed picking the right tools would be simple.
Spoiler: it wasn’t.

The digital creator world is filled with shiny platforms and almost all of them claim to be “all-in-one.” But when you’re brand new, have no tech background, and don’t want to spend $99 a month before earning your first commission, the decision becomes overwhelming.

I tested several popular platforms, and each time I found myself stuck in the same cycle:

  • Landing pages here…
  • Email marketing over there…
  • Automations behind another paywall…
  • And a learning curve that made everything harder than it needed to be.

Here’s everything I tried, what worked, what didn’t, and the tech stack I eventually chose, the one I’m using right now.

Why Choosing the Right Tools Matters

When you’re building a business from scratch, two things matter more than anything: ✅ Simplicity and ✅ Cost. And yet most beginner-friendly tools are missing something important (usually email marketing), while all-in-one tools tend to be pricey or complicated, at least for a beginner.

So I bounced around until I found a setup that finally made sense.

Here’s exactly how that journey went.

1️⃣ Stan Store: Where I Started

Stan Store was my first stop, and honestly, it’s a great beginner platform. It’s designed for creators, influencers, and anyone selling simple digital offers.

What I liked:

  • Super simple to set up
  • Attractive layouts
  • Clean checkout
  • Beginner-friendly

The downside:
If you want email marketing + automations, you’ll need the Pro plan at $99/month. That’s a big spend when you’re just starting out and haven’t made your first sale yet. And the automation is only for Instagram so if you plan to use Facebook or TikTok, you’ll need a second platform to accomplish that.

Verdict:
Perfect for simple setups, not ideal if you need emails and funnels on a budget.

2️⃣ Funnels of Course: Powerful but Not Beginner-Friendly

Funnels of Course is a true all-in-one…if you have the time (and patience) to learn it.

Pros:

  • Funnels
  • Email
  • Courses
  • Automations

Sounds amazing, right?

But here’s the truth:
It defintely has a learning curve in setting up your funnels and email marketing. The setup is a system of flow charts that link to one another.

I spent more time clicking around, Googling, and watching tutorials than actually building my business. And at $97/month, frustration feels expensive fast.

Verdict:
Amazing power if you’re tech-savvy or have a lot of time and patience…which I did not.

3️⃣ Beacons: Clean + Affordable Link-in-Bio

Beacons is a stylish, budget-friendly option for influencers or creators who want simplicity.

What I liked:

  • Very easy to use
  • Pretty link-in-bio pages
  • Newsletter features
  • Low-cost

Limitations:

  • More of a personal storefront than a full business system
  • Higher-tier features behind paid plans
  • Store transaction fees on the lower plans

Verdict:
Great for simple offer stacks, not ideal for long-term email + funnel growth.

4️⃣ Fanbasis: Because My Affiliate Program Moved There

I didn’t choose Fanbasis, when Digital Wealth Academy switched over to an affiliate platform, this was the first option they had set up so I selected it solely as my DWA affiliate platform. I don’t use it for any other business operation so I’m not clear on all that it has to offer. The website doesn’t list a ton of information and asks you to reach out to schedule a demonstration.

Fanbasis makes it easy to:

  • Track affiliate products
  • Generate personalized links
  • Get paid as an affiliate

Verdict:
Great for affiliates, but not a full business platform that I was able to see. You’ll still need landing pages, funnels, and email somewhere else.

5️⃣ Systeme.io: Landing Pages, Storefront & Email Marketing

Then I gave Systeme.io a try but ran into some issues connecting it to my domain name.

It includes:

  • Link-in-bio alternatives / Landing pages
  • Affordable email marketing
  • Automation workflows
  • Good funnel builder for beginners
  • Memberships/courses
  • Affiliate program management
  • Product checkout pages

They do offer a free plan as well as paid plans which are affordable:

  • Startup $17/month
  • Webinar $47/month
  • Unlimited $97/month

What I liked:
It has a lot of features in one platform.

Verdict:
Has a lot of positive features for an affordable price. Overall easy setup unless you already have a domain you want to connect then it gets complicated. After multiple emails to their customer support, I wasn’t able to get it working so decided it wasn’t a good fit for my business.

6️⃣ What I’m Using Now: MailerLite + WordPress (Hostinger)

After trying many tools, I finally settled on a setup that gives me full control without the high cost or overwhelm:

Hostinger

Email + Lead Magnets: MailerLite

I use MailerLite for:

  • All emails
  • Opt-in forms
  • Lead magnet delivery
  • Automation

It’s extremely beginner-friendly and the free plan is perfect for new creators, I use it for two blog websites.

Website + WordPress via Hostinger

I use Hostinger for domain, hosting, WordPress installation, and email addresses.

What I like:

  • Affordable pricing
  • Easy setup
  • Full website control
  • Best SEO flexibility
  • Landing page inside of my website
  • Unlimited content
  • Easy transfer from other hosting platform

What I’m NOT using right now:

Since I’m not currently selling digital products, I don’t need a storefront so my current set up is working out perfectly. If at some point in the future I need a storefront, I can use the WooCommerce plugin for WordPress so it’s all on my website.

Why I Chose This Setup

Because it gives me:

  • Simplicity – fewer moving pieces
  • Affordability – no high monthly fees
  • Control – my website, my content, my email list
  • Beginner friendliness – no steep learning curve

I’d rather grow slowly with tools I understand than stress over complicated systems.

Final Thoughts

Finding truly beginner-friendly digital marketing tools doesn’t have to feel confusing or overwhelming. After trying multiple platforms: some too expensive, some too complicated, and some missing key features, I finally realized that the best setup is the one that fits your budget, your learning style, and your stage of business.

Whether you start with a simple email platform like MailerLite, build your site on WordPress, or experiment with different creator tools, the most important thing is this: start small and keep it simple. You don’t need every feature on day one. You don’t need a $99/month platform. And you definitely don’t need to figure out everything at once.

Your digital business can grow step-by-step, tool by tool, as your confidence grows with it.
